Mumbai: Shares of Fortis Healthcare spurted by 20 per cent on Wednesday after ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala picked up stake in the company.
The scrip climbed by 20 per cent to settle at 52-week high of Rs 138.90 apiece on the BSE. During the trading session, the stock had touched a low of Rs 117.
Similarly, the stock surged by 19.97 per cent to close at Rs 139.35, its 52-week high, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Mr Jhunjhunwala bought 34,85,075 shares of Fortis Healthcare through bulk deal on the BSE today. The scrips were purchased on an average price of Rs 119.35 apiece, pegging the transaction value at Rs 41.6 crore.
The rally in the stock has increased the market capitalisation (m-cap) of Fortis Healthcare to Rs 6,428.14 crore from Rs 5,356.78 crore.
