The Union Budget 2025 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha on Saturday, following which there were a plethora of reactions across the political spectrum.
Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah reacted to the budget on his X profile, congratulating PM Modi and Finance Minister. "Budget 2025 is the blueprint of the Modi government's vision towards building a developed and best India in every field. This budget, which covers every sector - from farmers, poor, middle class, women and children's education, nutrition and health to Start Up, innovation and investment - is the roadmap for Modi ji's self-reliant India," he shared on his X profile.
I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for this comprehensive and visionary budget," he wrote.
Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, called the budget 'a transformative blueprint for empowering farmers, the middle class, and MSMEs, paving the way for Viksit Bharat 2047.'
This progressive roadmap strengthens key sectors, ensuring inclusive growth through strategic investments and transformative policies, Gadkari wrote on his X profile.
Anchored in the pillars of innovation, inclusion, and investment, it emphasises reforms, youth leadership, community participation, women's empowerment, and centre-state collaborations to drive holistic development.
"By fostering entrepreneurship, digital expansion, and robust infrastructure, it paves the way for sustained prosperity. With resilience and sustainable growth at its core, this budget reaffirms Bharat’s commitment to self-reliance, progress, and global excellence," he further wrote.
While Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned Bihar receiving major announcements in the budget. "Bihar appears to have got a bonanza of announcements. It is natural since elections are due there later in the year. But why is the other pillar of the NDA, namely Andhra Pradesh, been so cruelly ignored?" he wrote on his X profile.
The FM spoke of 4 engines: agriculture, MSMEs, investment, and exports. So many engines that the budget has been completely derailed, he further stated.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on his X profile, thanked the finance minister for announcing a urea plant in Assam.
"Union Budget 2025 has announced a 12.7 lakh MT urea plant in Namrup, a long standing demand of the people of Assam. After the semiconductor plant in Jagiroad, this urea facility will be a game changer for the entire North East. It will not only help us achieve self sufficiency in fertilizer availability but also better channelise our natural gas resources," he wrote.
