Connecticut State Police released on Friday footage of former WWE executive Vince McMahon driving his luxury sports car at more than 100 mph before crashing into another vehicle on a Connecticut highway in July 2025, according to Reuters.

McMahon, 80, was behind the wheel of a 2024 Bentley Continental GT, a car that can cost upwards of $300,000 when the crash occurred on July 24 on the Merritt Parkway in Westport.

What the Video Shows

According to AFP, the bodycam and dashcam footage released by police shows a state trooper attempting to clock McMahon's speed. The dashcam captured the Bentley accelerating before braking too late and ramming into the rear of a BMW.

The impact sent the Bentley into a guardrail before it swerved back across the highway, kicking up debris and dirt. In addition to damage to the BMW, flying debris struck another vehicle travelling on the opposite side of the parkway. No one was seriously injured in the crash.

In the bodycam footage, state police Detective Maxwell Robins is heard asking McMahon: "Why were you driving over 100 mph?"

"I've got my granddaughter's birthday," McMahon replied, explaining he was on his way to see her.

At one point, after being told how fast his car was, McMahon responded: "Yeah, too (expletive) fast."

When the detective suggested he was attempting to outrun the trooper, McMahon denied it. "No, no, no. I'm not trying to outrun you," he said.

State police clarified that the incident was not considered a pursuit, which typically involves a suspect attempting to flee officers.

Legal Outcome

McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely. In October, a state judge allowed him to enter a pretrial probation programme. If successfully completed, the charges will be erased from his record next October. He was also ordered to make a $1,000 charitable contribution.

His lawyer, Mark Sherman, said the crash was accidental.

"Not every car accident is a crime," Sherman said. "Vince's primary concern during this case was for the other drivers and is appreciative that the court saw this more as an accident than a crime that needed to be prosecuted."

McMahon stepped down as CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment in 2022 amid an internal investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. In 2024, he also resigned as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings, a day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit remains pending.

McMahon purchased what was then the World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and built it into a global sports entertainment brand. He also frequently appeared onscreen as part of WWE programming. Police said the investigation into the crash has concluded.
