Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that missiles struck the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a “surprise” attack, as the war between Tehran, Washington and Jerusalem intensifies across the region.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC said it targeted “the office of the prime minister of the Zionist regime and the headquarters of the regime's air force commander”, using Kheibar missiles in the latest wave of retaliation.
Iran did not provide independent verification of the strike, nor has Israel confirmed any direct hit on Netanyahu's office.
On X, an array of users asked whether Netanyahu was "killed" in the strike.
Explosions and missile alerts were reported over Jerusalem on Monday, with the Israel Defense Forces saying it identified missiles launched from Iran and that defensive systems were operating to intercept the threat.
The reported Iranian assault follows a barrage of US and Israeli strikes against targets inside Iran since Saturday, launched after the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The conflict has rapidly engulfed the broader Middle East, with explosions and attacks reported in the Gulf states, including UAE, Bahrain, Iraq and other regional hotspots.
Authorities in the Gulf say the Iranian missile and drone offensives have so far killed at least five people, including civilians in Kuwait.
