- Social media platform X has introduced limits on posts and replies for users without blue checkmarks
- Blue checkmark users and premium subscribers are exempt from posting and reply limits
- Non-premium users face daily limits on direct messages, email updates, and follows
Social media platform 'X' has introduced a limit to the amount of posts and replies users can put out, according to its 'Help Center Page'. Users that possess the blue checkmark, do not face these limits.
The platform formerly known as Twitter, stated that the reason for the limits is to "alleviate some of the strain on the behind-the-scenes part of X and reduce downtime and error pages."

To have these limitation removed, 'X' users must pay for a premium subscription which retails for Rs 427 per month for the web version and Rs 470 a month for the application version available for iOS and Android operating systems. This subscription provides the users with a blue checkmark.
Non-premium users also have a direct message limit of 500 messages per day. User can also update their e-mails only four times in a given hour.
The technical follow limit for users is 400 per day with added caveats with respect to non-general situations.
"Please note that this is a technical account limit only, and there are additional rules prohibiting aggressive following behavior," the page said.
Users will also face account-specific follow limits after following more than 5,000 accounts.
"Once an account is following 5,000 other accounts, additional follow attempts are limited by account-specific ratios," the page stated.

Users who use many API (application programming interface processes) in tandem with their 'X' account may also face limits.
"People who use multiple third-party applications with their account will therefore reach the API limit more quickly," the company said.
These measures seem to have been brought in to reduce spam and bot activity on the platform, as per news reports, with these limits being temporarily relaxed during peak usage.
"These limits may be temporarily reduced during periods of heavy site usage. In such cases, we will post an update on the X status site," the firm stated.
