Amid high expectations, Apple is planning to launch the second-generation model of iPhone Air later this year, as per the latest claims tied to production feedback. The iPhone Air 2 could be introduced with a regular upgrade, without any major changes in design or features.

The latest leak from Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo contradicts earlier rumours suggesting Apple delayed the iPhone Air 2 launch until 2027.

iPhone Air 2: What To Expect

In the post translated from Chinese, the leaker refuted the delay rumours and claimed that the smartphone could be introduced by the Cupertino giant in the fall of this year.

"The feedback from the production line is that the iPhone Air 2 will be launched this fall," the leaker said in the Weibo post.

However, they suggested that it could debut with "minor changes, a routine upgrade," besides rejecting talks about a reduction in specifications.

Apple introduced the iPhone Air in September last year. In November 2025, The Information suggested that the company had decided to delay the launch of iPhone Air 2 until 2027 amid reports of poor sales and manufacturing cuts. Another report from the news outlet said that Apple will utilise this time to redesign the device by including a second rear camera, a larger battery capacity and other features.

If the latest leaks from Fixed Focus Digital are to be believed, Apple could bring iPhone Air 2 with just one camera on the back side, without making any significant specification cuts.

'Thinner And Brighter' iPhone Air 2

Earlier this month, The Elec said that the company is considering a new screen technology, which was originally intended for the rumoured iPhone Fold, but could now be applied to the next generation of the iPhone Air.

It said that iPhone Air 2 might carry a Colour Filter on Encap (CoE) technology, which apparently allows it to have a thinner and brighter screen without increasing power consumption.

Under this, the polarisation layer on the screen panel gets replaced with a colour filter system, reducing light reflections and allowing the panel to pass more light. Ultimately, the user will be able to increase the brightness level with the same amount of power consumption compared to the previous model.

Initially planned for the rumoured iPhone Fold, Apple is said to be utilising similar technology on the iPhone Air 2, since the model prioritizes thin design and power efficiency.
