ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup 2026: The 2026 edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held from Feb 7 to Mar 8. India and Sri Lanka will co-host the biannual competition, featuring 20 of the world's finest T20 International sides. Apart from defending champions India, former winners West Indies, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia will also be vying for the big glory.
These formidable sides will be joined by fellow ICC full-members New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe. Leading associate sides Scotland, UAE, Nepal, Italy, Oman, Netherlands, Canada, Namibia and the USA will also strive to make their presence felt on the world stage.
ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Groups
The 20 T20 World Cup 2026 participants will be divided into four groups of five teams each. Here is how each of the four groups is lined up:
- Group A: India, Pakistan, Namibia, the Netherlands and the USA.
- Group B: Sri Lanka, Australia, Oman, Zimbabwe and Ireland
- Group C: England, West Indies, Italy, Scotland and Nepal
- Group D: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada and UAE
ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Format
Each team will play its respective group rivals once during the initial stage of the competition. The top 2 teams in all four groups at the end of the first round will qualify for the Super 8s stage. Those eight qualifiers will be further subdivided into two groups of 4 teams each. Teams will then play their group opponents once in the Super 8s. The top 2 teams from either group will qualify for the semi-finals.
ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Venues
In India, venues in Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chennai will play host to the T20 World Cup 2026 matches. Colombo and Pallekele have been allocated games of the Sri Lankan leg of the competition.
