We recently hosted Mr. Rajinder Bhatia – the President of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers at our Virtual Investor Conference to get an overview of the current business environment in the Defence and Aerospace segment.
The current government's policy lays emphasis on indigenously designed, developed and manufactured products. This policy is expected to continue, with a significant portion of the defence acquisition budget earmarked for the domestic industry.
However, there are challenges in operationalising these policies, particularly in deep technology funding, where delays are a given.
The SIDM works closely with the government on a variety of issues, including defence exports. It is forming a defence export promotion society in order to establish a special desk within the EXIM bank for defence exports.
