The increase was spread across both sides of the options market. Bank Nifty had 8.02 lakh Call contracts and 8.08 lakh Put contracts in open interest in the data, while futures open interest stood at 81,388 contracts.

Private Banks Drive Morning Move

Among the major Bank Nifty constituents, Kotak Mahindra Bank led the gains, rising 1.46%.

HDFC Bank advanced 0.81%, while Federal Bank gained 0.69%. IDFC First Bank rose 0.44%, and ICICI Bank was up 0.35%.

The gains were partly offset by declines in select banking stocks. Punjab National Bank fell 1.33%, the biggest decline among the stocks shown. IndusInd Bank dropped 0.74%, while Bank of Baroda declined 0.29%. Axis Bank was marginally lower at 0.03%.
