Airbnb is leaning into emotion-driven storytelling with its latest campaign featuring newlywed actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna — and the internet can't seem to get enough of it.

Set in the tropical calm of Koh Samui in Thailand, the film imagines the duo on a post-wedding getaway that breaks away from the usual honeymoon template. Instead of a quiet, couple-only retreat, the story unfolds around a ‘buddymoon' — a getaway shared with close friends, where the focus is on connection, comfort, and unfiltered moments.

The pair check into a private Airbnb villa, choosing a space that lets them pause, breathe, and enjoy being together. From playful banter over breakfast and relaxed afternoons by the pool to dancing freely, the film captures moments that feel spontaneous and real.

While sharing the video, Rashmika added a caption on her Instagram where she wrote, “After the wedding celebration, we wanted to slow down a bit for a couple of days. Quiet mornings, swims in the afternoons, and evenings of table tennis and pool and movie nights with laughter that lasted much longer. This @airbnb in Koh Samui felt like home almost instantly. Some moments from those days… with friends and home filled with laughter.”

A standout element is the voiceover, built from personal notes exchanged between Vijay and Rashmika. Lines such as “My husband… still getting used to saying that”, “My best friend. That part hasn't changed”, and “she'll always dance like no one's watching” add a soft, intimate layer, making the film feel almost like a page out of their personal diary.

Sharing their thoughts, the two said, “For us, travel has always been about making new memories with our friends and family and staying in an Airbnb always makes it that really easy, we could all be together in one space, hang out, play games, be in the pool and watch the sunset, enjoy good food, and experience the local culture in a more real, unfiltered way. It felt less like visiting, and more like living the place.”

The villa itself becomes an extension of the story—with open shared spaces, an infinity pool, and a warm, homely vibe that reflects how travellers today are prioritising comfort and connection.

This campaign also taps into a growing travel trend. The ‘buddymoon' trend, in particular, is gaining traction as couples choose to celebrate milestones with their inner circle.

'Wholesome, Beautiful'

The campaign has received an outpouring of love online, with fans calling it “beautiful” and “wholesome,” sharing reactions like “So beautiful, god bless u both,” and “This is amazing.” Many also praised their chemistry, fondly calling them “#Virosh” and even joking, “petition to make this the first video song from Ok Kanmani 2.”
