Shraddha Kapoor's upcoming movie Eetha has had a big change in its release date, which means fans will have to wait a bit longer for the highly anticipated biographical drama. This change affects the movie's planned showing in theatres and also shifts its place in the holiday box office schedule.

The team behind the film has now confirmed that it will be released in cinemas later this year instead of the original plan, so it won't compete directly with another big, widely expected movie from across the country.

Who Was Vithabai Narayangaonkar?

Eetha is based on the life of celebrated Lavani artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar, who was one of Maharashtra's most important folk artists. She played a significant role in popularising Lavani and Tamasha, inspiring generations of performers.

Her contribution to Indian folk art earned recognition from the President of India in 1957 and again in 1990. Despite her fame, Vithabai reportedly faced financial hardships in her later years. Her artistic legacy, however, continued through her children and family members, who carried forward the traditions of Lavani and Tamasha.

Eetha Gets A New Release Date

The team officially said Eetha will now come out in cinemas on Dec. 4, instead of its earlier date of Aug. 28. Because of this change, the movie won't be shown at the same time as Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which was also set for an August release.

Maddock Films shared the news on social media, saying, "TOOFAN ke liye taiyaar rehna...kyunki #EETHA aa rahi hai, 4th December ko," which confirms the new release date.

What The Teaser Revealed

In June, the teaser was released and showed Shraddha Kapoor as legendary Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. It opens with a Lavani performance interrupted by an eager crowd demanding Eetha take the stage.

The teaser then shows Eetha preparing to perform while heavily pregnant. Despite going into labour backstage and being warned that the performance could put her life at risk, she chooses to return to the stage after giving birth, highlighting her unwavering dedication to her art.

The teaser ends with a powerful voiceover describing her as a "toofan," symbolising her strength and influence. It was screened alongside Cocktail 2 in theatres.
