Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 1 vs Pati Patni Aur Woh Do: Suriya Starrer Takes Strong Lead

Two films from completely different genres and industries hit the theatres this week, delivering contrasting results on their opening day. While Ayushmann Khurrana's comedy film 'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do' had a slow start, Suriya Sivakumar's Tamil action drama 'Karuppu' opened to a solid response.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do - Box Office Collection Day 1

'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do' collected Rs 3.85 crore net across 6,822 shows on its first day, reports Sacnilk. The total India gross collections are reported as Rs 4.62 crore, while the total India net collections are valued at Rs 3.85 crore so far.

Overseas, the film has collected a total of Rs 1 crore in gross collections, bringing the total worldwide gross collection to Rs 5.62 crore.

The film recorded 11.94% occupancy on Day 1. While the morning shows started with a low 5.38%, the afternoons saw a slight improvement as the data jumped to 10.92%. Evening shows reported 10.46%, while night shows surged to 18.62%.

Karuppu - Box Office Collection Day 1

Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer 'Karuppu' recorded a much stronger opening. The film collected Rs 15.5 crore nett across 4,891 shows on Day 1. The total India gross collections are valued at Rs 17.93 crore, and the total India net collections at Rs 15.5 crore.

The film has grossed a total of Rs 4 crore from the overseas market, bringing the total worldwide gross collection to Rs 21.93 crore.

Language-wise Breakdown

  • Tamil: The Tamil version collected Rs 13.1 crore across 3,448 shows. The occupancy stood strong at 54%.
  • Telugu: The Telugu version collected Rs 2.4 crore across 1,443 shows with an occupancy of 30%.

Occupancy - Day 1

  • Tamil: The overall occupancy reported 50.35%. Morning shows started with 24.54%, while the afternoon rose to 45.92%. With further improvement, evening shows reported 53.31%, and night shows surged to a solid 75.15%.
  • Telugu: The overall occupancy stood at 28.28%. Morning shows reported 24.70% while the afternoon shows saw 29.40%. Evening and night shows also recorded positive occupancy rates of 23.90% and 35.10%, respectively.
