Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is facing intense online discussion after reports claimed that he has been travelling on a US passport since 2022. The reports have surprised many fans because Diljit has long been viewed as one of the biggest global ambassadors of Punjabi culture and identity.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Diljit Dosanjh reportedly became a US citizen in 2022 and has been travelling to India on an e-visa since then, suggesting he may not hold an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card.

Politics Refusal Adds More Attention To The Reports

The reports gained more attention after a Punjab-based group of retired IAS officers, defence personnel and professionals urged Diljit to enter politics and take a leadership role in the state.

However, the singer firmly turned down the suggestion with a brief post on X, writing, “Kadey v nahi. Mera kaam entertainment karna [Never. My only job is to entertain].”

'Main Hoon Punjab' Image Sparks Debate

Diljit's reported citizenship status has become a talking point largely because his public image has always remained deeply connected to Punjab. Through his songs, films and international appearances, he has consistently represented Punjabi culture on global platforms.

His popular line, “Main Hoon Punjab,” became closely associated with his identity over the years, making the latest reports even more surprising for many fans.

Despite the reports, Diljit has continued to work actively in Indian entertainment. Earlier this year, he joined the cast of Border 2, where he portrayed Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Indian Air Force officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra.

So far, Diljit has not publicly commented on the claims or addressed reports about changing his nationality.

Passport Details Mentioned In The Report

As per the report, Diljit's last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018, while an earlier passport had reportedly been issued in Zambia. The report also claimed that his wife, Sandeep Kaur, is a US citizen.

Another detail that drew attention was the claim that Diljit listed a luxury bungalow in California as his residential address while applying for American citizenship.

Born in Punjab's Dosanjh Kalan village, Diljit Dosanjh rose to fame with albums like G.O.A.T., MoonChild Era and Ghost, before gaining wider recognition through films like Udta Punjab and Amar Singh Chamkila. He also made global headlines with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and his performance at Coachella.
