The first official teaser of Ramayana has finally been released, giving audiences their first glimpse at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The teaser was unveiled in Mumbai on Thursday on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, shortly after an exclusive showcase in Los Angeles earlier this week.
The 2-minute-38-second teaser, shared by the makers on their official handle, mainly introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, focusing on his look and presence while setting the film's tone. It highlights the grand scale, rich visuals, and epic world of the story without revealing key plot details. Overall, it works as a visual showcase that builds mood, emotion, and anticipation.
The makers captured the essence of the story while writing on their post, “Rama is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self. His legacy continues to enhance and empower humanity over time and bring the belief in the goodness of the human spirit to resolve all conflict and bring peace to the world.”
At the international launch event, Ranbir was joined by filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. Speaking about portraying one of the most revered figures in Indian mythology, the actor described Lord Rama as a timeless moral force. “He has been the conscience keeper of billions of people across centuries. He represents the triumph of the human spirit and stands for compassion, courage, righteousness, and forgiveness. He is Maryada Purushottam — the ideal man,” Ranbir said.

Opening up about his journey, Ranbir admitted he initially doubted himself when the role came his way nearly four years ago. “I didn't think I was fit or good enough to take on something so significant. But over time, that fear turned into gratitude. Opportunities like this are rare and deeply meaningful,” he shared.
The ambitious adaptation features a powerhouse ensemble. Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Sita, while Yash steps into the shoes of Ravana. Sunny Deol will be seen as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The cast also includes Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Kunal Kapoor as Indra.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt couldn't contain her excitement as she cheered for Ranbir during a virtual fan interaction. “It's absolutely fabulous. Ranbir has done such a beautiful job. I just can't wait for everyone to watch it — it's truly out of this world,” she said.
Backed by Prime Focus Studios along with global VFX powerhouse DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is envisioned as a grand two-part cinematic saga. The first installment is set for a worldwide IMAX release during Diwali 2026, with the second part scheduled for Diwali 2027.
