In the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election trends, Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM appears headed for a disappointing outing, with the party not leading in any seat so far.
Despite raising expectations after its strong performance in Bihar, AIMIM's limited push in West Bengal—where it fielded candidates in around 12 constituencies—has failed to translate into electoral gains.
The party focused on minority-dominated districts such as Murshidabad, Malda and Uttar Dinajpur, contesting key seats like Jalangi, Domkal, Bharatpur, Sagardighi, Asansol North and Itahar.
In contrast, Humayun Kabir of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) is showing strong performance in early trends.
Contesting from Rejinagar (Naoda), Kabir has surged ahead with 6,405 votes, leading by a margin of 2,890 votes, putting him on course for a likely victory.

Kabir, a former TMC leader, had earlier been in the spotlight over allegations of links with the BJP. AIMIM had initially explored an alliance with his party, but the tie-up was later called off following a controversy over a viral video.
As counting progresses, the trends suggest a stark contrast in fortunes—AIMIM struggling to open its account, while Kabir consolidates his position in his constituency.
Meanwhile, BJP is heading for a remarkable victory in West Bengal, surging past the majority mark and nearing 200 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. The All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, faces a major setback after 15 years in power, with the contest turning decisively in favour of the BJP.
