The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that a circular stating Class 12 English examinations in the Middle East have been postponed is fake.
Issuing the notification on their official X handle, the board has made it clear “this is fake.”
A forged circular claimed the Class 12 English examination for students in the Middle East would be conducted on March 12. The board made it clear that the notice circulating online was fake and misleading, and noted that the exam for affected centres had already been rescheduled to March 16, a report in The Times of India stated.

The fraudulent message gained traction on social media platforms such as Twitter and WhatsApp, linking the revised exam schedules to the CBSE's Controller of Examinations. However, the board clarified this announcement was neither legitimate nor authorised by the CBSE. The board's official social media accounts have also labelled the communication as false and urged the public to rely solely on verified information.
The development comes at a time when several CBSE exams have actually been postponed in the Middle East amid the Iran-Israel tensions and security concerns. While the board has already postponed several Class 10 and 12 exams in the region, some Class 10 papers have been cancelled. New dates will be announced later. CBSE alerted schools about the modifications via official circulars posted on its website.

Nonetheless, the board has officially dismissed the current circular doing the rounds and urged students, parents, and educational institutions not to fall for such fake news. Students and parents have been requested to stay in touch with their schools and only visit the CBSE's official website or official social media pages for updates. Spreading or relying on unsubstantiated messages might result in unnecessary confusion and worry, the board said.
