Bank branches in Sikkim will remain closed on Feb. 18 in observance of Losar, the Tibetan New Year. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially declared Losar a holiday for the state.

In addition to Losar, bank branches will remain closed for two more days this week. The RBI has designated Feb. 19 and 20 as holidays in specific states.

Remaining Bank Holidays This Week:

  • Feb: 19: Banks in Maharashtra will be closed for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.
  • Feb. 20: Banks will remain closed in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram to mark State Day/Statehood Day.

Even though bank branches remain closed on notified public holidays, customers can continue to access digital services like ATMs, UPI, and internet banking without any interruption.

Remaining Bank Holidays In February 2026:

For the remainder of February, there are no additional state-specific bank holidays. Banks across the country will remain open on all weekdays. They will be shut only on the fourth Saturday and the remaining Sunday of the month. As stated in the RBI notification for bank holidays, “All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe a public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays.”

Since operating hours can vary across branches, customers are advised to confirm timings before planning a visit. The RBI's official holiday schedule provides a reliable guide to closures and limited services, and a quick call to the nearest branch can help avoid any inconvenience.

The RBI issues the annual bank holidays list at the start of each calendar year, classifying holidays into three categories: Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts. While branch services remain suspended on these days, customers are encouraged to plan their visits in advance, taking regional holidays into account.

March is set to have 11 bank holidays on weekdays, according to the RBI calendar. It includes closures for Holi, Ramzan, Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti.
