Apple added a new member to the iPhone 16 lineup on February 19, 2025- the iPhone 16e. While it adds an affordable option to Apple’s lineup, 16e is directly competing with Android Flagships like the OnePlus 13, iQOO 13, and Realme GT 7 Pro, which offer some serious hardware at much more competitive prices.
The biggest difference is definitely the processor. The iPhone 16e is equipped with Apple's A18 chip like that on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. However, reports say that it is a "binned" chip. Meanwhile, all three Android competitors are packing Qualcomm's latest and top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which you'll find in some of the best flagship smartphones today.
Display & Battery
iPhone 16e – 6.1-inch OLED (60Hz), battery details are undisclosed, but Apple says its chip and in-house modem provide a significant boost to battery performance. Apple says, "iPhone 16e has a supersized battery life."
OnePlus 13 – 6.82-inch AMOLED (120Hz), 6000mAh, 100W charging
iQOO 13 – 6.82-inch QHD+ (144Hz), 6000mAh, 120W charging
Realme GT 7 Pro – 6.78-inch AMOLED (120Hz), 5800mAh, 120W charging
Android rivals come with smoother displays and higher refresh rates, making these the optimal choice for gaming or media consumption. In comparison, Apple sticks to a 60Hz display that can feel dated. The iPhone 16e also lacks a charger in the box similar to what we see with the flagship versions of Android devices supporting ultra-fast charging.
Cameras & Pricing
iPhone 16e – 48MP + 12MP front, Rs 59,900
OnePlus 13 – 50MP + 50MP + 50MP, 32MP front, Rs 69,999
iQOO 13 – 50MP + 50MP + 50MP, 32MP front, Rs 54,999
Realme GT 7 Pro – 50MP + 50MP + 8MP, 16MP front, Rs 59,999
While the 16e comes with a single rear camera setup it falls behind Android flagships, which offer higher-resolution triple-camera systems.
Final Thoughts
The iPhone 16e receives Apple's ecosystem and smooth software experience, but it misses out on contemporary features like high refresh rates, fast charging, and a bigger battery.
Loyal Apple users may still stick with it, citing not just the beautiful phone itself, but also Apple's safety record about user privacy and data security. But Android alternatives will offer better value for money.
One thing is for sure, Apple has just launched a smartphone that is actually competing with Chinese smartphones on price point too. Its current flagship, the premium iPhone 16, is clearly priced much higher than what the Chinese makers have rolled out.
