(Bloomberg) -- Thailand reported four new cases of infection by the novel coronavirus, taking its total to 47.
The cases involve travel from Italy and Iran, Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, said in a briefing Thursday.
One is an Italian tourist and the second is a Thai national returning from Italy. The third is Chinese citizen who was transiting back to China from Iran. The fourth case is a Thai coming back from Iran.
The Southeast Asian nation has so far confirmed one fatality from the disease known as Covid-19. Fifteen people remain hospitalized, while the others who contracted the illness recovered and have been discharged.
The tourism-reliant Thai economy is reeling from the travel curbs sparked by the outbreak. Visitors from China, the disease epicenter, have slumped but are usually the biggest source of tourism receipts.
