Several areas of the Thane district in Maharashtra are set to experience water supply issues on Wednesday, May 21, due to maintenance work.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), residents in the Thane west region will be particularly impacted by the disruption in water supply. The civic agency has urged the people to make arrangements accordingly to avoid any significant inconvenience during this period.
As many as 11 areas of Thane will experience water cuts for about 12 hours, according to TMC. The disruption will be on account of maintenance work that will be carried out in Pise Udanchan Kendra. The TMC said that they will undertake repair work at a water purification centre and high-pressure substation located in the area.
The repair work will start at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and will continue till 9 p.m. Hence, affected residents are advised to make arrangements for sufficient water storage before the supply is impacted.

The pre-monsoon repair work is essential to maintain the water quality standards of the district. Through these repairs, the civic body will check the status of panel servicing, transformer oil filtration, and other essential maintenance.
Following the conclusion of the repair work, the water pressure in the affected areas may remain lower than usual for a few hours.
This development comes amid an already challenging summer, with water bodies in Thane and surrounding areas under severe stress. In April, the TMC banned vehicle washing centres from operating until June 10. This action was taken in response to the ongoing water crisis in the district.
