Indian equity benchmarks rose most in over a week led by gains in energy and bank shares.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 1 percent to 33,329 while the NSE Nifty 50 Index climbed 0.97 percent to 10,222. All sector gauges compiled by the BSE climbed led by the S&P BSE Telecom and S&P BSE Realty Index’s 1.8 percent jump.

Alembic Pharma: FDA Inspects Facility
Shares of the Vadodara-based pharmaceutical firm rose as much as 4.22 percent to Rs 557.85.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration conducted an inspection at a Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd. facility in Panelav and issued a form 483 with three observations, the drugmaker said in an exchange filing. It said none of the observations are related to data integrity or repetitive in nature.
Trading volume was 188.5 times the 20-day average.
Alkem Labs: U.S. FDA Conducts Surprise Audit
Shares of the Mumbai-based drug maker rose as much as 2.1 percent to Rs 2,150.
The U.S. drug regulator conducted a surprise audit at Alkem Laboratories Ltd.’s largest facility in Daman, two people aware of the development told BloombergQuint requesting anonymity. The officials are mainly auditing the quality control practices and production line of the Mumbai-based drug maker.
The stock rose after three sessions while the trading volume was 4.2 times the 20-day average.
Ashoka Buildcon: Lowest Bidder For Two Projects
Shares of the Mumbai-based construction firm rose as much as 14 percent, most in 32 months, to Rs 265. The company emerged as the lowest bidder for two projects worth Rs 447.51 crore in Maharashtra, it said in an exchange filing.
The stock has risen 4.3 percent so far this year, compared to the S&P BSE Sensex’s losses of 2.32 percent.
Greenply Industries: Plans To De-Merge MDF Business
Shares of the Kolkata-based plywood maker rose as much as 3.31 percent to Rs 340.
Greenply Industries Ltd.’s board informed exchanges that it is exploring an option to demerge MDF division into Greenpanel Industries Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Greenply Industries.
The stock snapped a three-day losing streak with trading volumes close to 13 times its 20-day average.
