The stock market ended higher on the last trading session of the week on Friday, with the top gainer being Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and the top loser being JSW Steel Ltd.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.05% higher at 24,346.70 and the BSE Sensex ended 0.32% up at 80,501.99.
Maruti Suzuki closed the day 4.77% higher, followed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., which gained as much as 4.38% at market close at Rs 1,267.10.
Adani Ports was closely followed by SBI Life Insurance Co. as it became the third biggest gainer on Friday to settle 2% higher. Another stock that closed with gains was Hindalco Industries Ltd. as it settled 1.66% higher, followed by Reliance Industries Ltd. which closed 1.63% higher.
The biggest loser in Friday's trading session was JSW Steel Ltd as it fell as much as 6.33%. The stock that was the second biggest laggard was Bajaj Finserv Ltd. as it fell 5.46% at market close.
The third biggest laggard was Trent Ltd. as it fell 4.79%, followed by Bajaj Auto Ltd. as the fourth biggest loser as it settled 3.34% lower. The fifth biggest loser was Hero MotoCorp., declining 2.90%.
