Asian stocks were mixed Monday as traders weighed policy easing by China’s central bank ahead of data expected to underline the slowdown in the nation’s economy.

Shares rose in Japan and Australia but slipped in South Korea. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were volatile. U.S. stock and bond markets will be shut Monday for a holiday.

The Singapore-traded SGX Nifty, an early indicator of India's Nifty 50 Index's performance, fell 0.37% to 18,205.50 as of 7 a.m

Elsewhere, oil extended its rally. Among cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin was around $43,000.

Stocks To Watch

  • HCL Technologies: The company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Starschema, a Hungarian data engineering services company, for $42.5 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed by March 2022.

  • Hero Motocop: To invest up to Rs 420 crore more in Ather Energy. Hero MotoCorp’s shareholding will increase from current 34.8% in Ather after the investment. The investment will be made in one or more tranches by April 30. The company’s exact shareholding will be determined upon completion of Ather’s capital raising round.

  • Maruti Suzuki: Raises prices by average of 1.7% from Saturday

  • PVR: The company has added new 4-screen property in Andhra Pradesh.

  • Apollo Tyres: The company has bought 27.20% stake in CSE Deccan Solar for Rs 9.33 crore.

  • Indian Oil Corporation: Secured nine out of 15 high potential geographical areas in the latest round of CGD auction. The company plans to invest Rs 7,000 crore in the new CGD projects, over and above the Rs 20,000 crore investments that were already planned for the vertical.

  • NBCC India: December total business at Rs 592 crore

  • Kalyan Jewellers India: To give up to $200 million guarantee for the senior U.S. dollar denominated fixed rate notes with the tenure of 5 years, being considered for issuance by Kalyan Jewellers FZE.

  • Oil India: The company has sold its stake in the Niobrara shale asset in the U.S. for $25 million. The stake which was held by a unit of the state-run oil explorer, was sold to Verdad Resources LLC.

  • Castrol: Will consider dividend for the financial year ended December 31, 2021 on Feb. 7.

  • PB Fintech: To buy 100% stake in Visit Internet for Rs 22.41 crore

  • IRFC: Approved the issuance $ denominated, senior, unsecured, green notes aggregating to $500 million under IRFC's $7 billion global medium term note programme for a tenure of 10 years. The coupon rate has been fixed at 3.57% per annum.

  • India Grid Trust: Electron IM Pte has completed acquisition of the remaining 26% equity shares of IndiGrid Investment Managers Ltd from Sterlite Power Transmission. Electron now holds 100% stake in IIML.

  • RBL Bank: Hires search firm, external expert to hunt for CEO

  • JK Paper: Commercial production from new Packaging Board plant has commenced, increasing the company's annual capacity from 4.55 lakh TPA to 6.25 lakh TPA. It will also enhance its market share in packaging board segment.

  • Metro Brands: The company has inked strategic partnership with wellbeing footwear brand FitFlop securing exclusive rights for sale of FitFlop for Indian markets.

  • ICRA: Group Chief Financial Officer Vipul Agarwal has resigned.

  • Kothari Products: The company’s unit Kothari Products Singapore Pte. has divested its entire stake in subsidiary Pinehills Singapore Pte., a step-down subsidiary of the company.

  • PMC Fincorp: Board to meet on Jan. 19 to consider raising fundsby way of preferential allotment or rights issue, etc.

  • Uttam Sugar Mills: The company redeemed 1,00,000 6.50% Non-Cumulative Redeemable Preference shares of Rs. 100 each.

  • Mangalam Cement: The company approved allotment of 8,03,518 fully paid-up equity shares to eligible shareholders of Mangalam Timber Products in the share exchange ratio of 1: 22 as provided in the Scheme of Amalgamation.

  • Earnings: Ultratech Cement, Angel One, Sonata Software, Tata Steel Long Products, Tatva Chintan Pharma Chemicals, HFCL, Maharashtra Scooters, Bhansali Engineering Polymers, Hathway Cable and Datacom, Moschip Technologies.
