Narendra Modi has said his administration aims to achieve an accelerated pace of development, surpassing the past decade's progress. He said this during his speech at the parliament on Friday, after being elected as leader of the National Democratic Alliance.

Modi highlighted that central to his agenda is a commitment to providing housing for the underprivileged, with a target of constructing 4 crore houses for those in need. "Today, the middle class has emerged as a driving force in Bharat's (India's) growth story. We will continue to ensure welfare of our people, and will continue to deliver 'quality of life' to all."

He pledged to enhance savings of the middle class, while minimising government interference in their lives. “In the next 10 years good governance, development, quality of life and my personal determination: to reduce the government’s meddling in the lives of middle and upper middle class people…will be taken up,” he said.

Modi also reiterated his dedication to cooperative federalism, stressing the importance of fostering collaborative governance among states and the central government.

Highlighting the need to address challenges at the grassroots level, Modi expressed a desire to focus on regions with limited resources. He credited the Gati Shakti platform for expediting major projects, boasting completion times as short as 10-15 days.

Modi also emphasised India's rapid progress in sectors such as space exploration, artificial intelligence, and startups, projecting unprecedented opportunities for growth in the next quarter-century.

He further underlined the significance of promoting local and regional tourism and highlighted the immense potential for investment in India. The government is dedicated to establishing India's supremacy in the green revolution, signaling a shift towards sustainable development practices, he said.
