Shares of Tata Motors rose after its Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) unit reported strong April numbers. Jaguar Land Rover on Monday reported a 30 per cent increase in global sales at 37,171 units in April.
Jaguar sold 5,511 vehicles April, up 17 per cent year-on -year, with a strong performance from the F-Type, the company said. Land Rover sold 31,660 vehicles - an increase of 33 per cent - on the back of robust sales from all three Range Rover models, it added.
Tata Motors shares were up 1.6 per cent at Rs 452 while its DVR offering rose 3.2 per cent to Rs 249.
Strong sales of its JLR unit have helped shares of Tata Motors outperform the broader markets despite the automaker's weak domestic sales numbers. Shares of Tata Motors are up nearly 20 per cent so far this year as compared to nearly 13 per cent gain for Sensex. (With Agency Inputs)
