"We have revived the expansion project for single super phosphate production capacity at the Haldia plant. The project can cost Rs 40 crore...," Tata Chemicals' executive director and CFO, P K Ghose, said.
He was here to celebrate the company's platinum jubilee at Haldia factory and the launch of Tata Swach RO water purifier.
The decision to revive the project came after partial lifting of the pollution ban at Haldia by the Centre, Haldia
plant cide president S Nandy said.
The ban restricted companies from expanding their facilities.
Mr Nandy said the comany would require environment clearances from the state and the Centre and that a process in this regard had been initiated.
However, the company could not give any timeline for completion of the project.
The expansion of SSP production was under consideration for demand as it is cheaper than other fertilisers.
The current SSP capacity at Haldia is 2,00,000 tonnes per annum.
