Reliance Power (R-Power) on Monday said its 1,200 megawatt (MW) Rosa thermal power project at Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh is now fully operational after it commissioned the fourth and the last 300 MW unit on March 31, making it the company's first fully operating power plant.

The project, comprising four 300 MW units implemented in two phases, is the first independent thermal power project in the region to be brought online. The Anil Ambani-led company has invested Rs 6,000 crore on the project making it the
largest private sector investment in the state, the company said in a statement.
“The entire power generated here will be provided to UP accounting for over 15 per cent of the state's energy requirement, lighting up over 30 lakh households,” the company said in a statement, adding that the project has created 5,000 jobs in the area.
