India’s polling booth officers have been crowned NDTV Indian of The Year 2024. The award was presented by NDTV Editor-In-Chief Sanjay Pugalia at NDTV's 'Indian Of The Year' awards ceremony on Friday.
The jury for the selection process consisted of former Supreme Court judge AK Sikri; Chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Sanjiv Goenka; Karambir Singh, former chief of Naval Staff; actor and director Asha Parekh; advertisement guru Piyush Pandey; and the Securities and Exchange Board of India's former chairman, UK Sinha.
The candidates were shortlisted in collaboration with Grant Thornton Bharat to ensure that the sanctity of the award framework and process is being upheld.
Since 2003, when NDTV launched the first-ever Indian of the Year, the event has become synonymous with recognising those Indians—individuals, organisations, and institutions—who have contributed to the idea and identity of India in one way or another, whose contributions to the country have strengthened the foundation of our society.
The awards have recognised the unsung hero in the same breath as the most celebrated—our focus has always been on the extraordinary work. It is to honour extraordinary work that we gather once again to celebrate the Indian of the Year—2024.
