You can make the payments via platforms like net banking, debit/credit cards, and mobile wallets, among others. However, you might have to pay cenrtain extra charges when you make payments through these gateways. For example, for transactions made through digital wallet Paytm, IRCTC charges 1.80 per cent plus tax, said IRCTC.
