Making a major change at the top level, GMR Infrastructure today said it has appointed Kiran Kumar Grandhi as its managing director, replacing B V N Rao.
However, Mr. Rao will continue to work as a director in the company board, GMR said in a filing to the BSE.
It added that Mr. Grandhi's appointment as MD has become effective from July 28 (yesterday). Kiran Kumar Grandhi, 38, a member of the GMR family has considerable experience in leading projects and businesses in infrastructure space across sectors such as airports, highways, and corporate functions, the company said.
He has also led the company in completing the brand new international airport at Delhi and winning the bid to reconstruct the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, Istanbul in 2007. GMR group, as part of its rotation policy also announced changes in designation for Mr. Rao and Mr. Grandhi at the group level.
Accordingly, B V N Rao has now taken over as business chairman -- urban infrastructure and highways, with responsibilities for highways, EPC division, SEZ and GMR Varalakshmi Foundation.
This will be in addition to his current responsibilities for corporate affairs, legal and procurement, GMR said.
Similarly, Kiran Kumar Grandhi has taken over as corporate chairman with responsibility for group finance and corporate strategic planning department functions.
"By virtue of this responsibility, he has now become managing director of GMR Infrastructure Ltd," the company said.
