Auto & Electronics Giant Tamil Nadu Seeks New Avenues For Economic Growth At Davos with #BullishOnTN

*This is in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu.India’s powerhouse state Tamil Nadu is making waves at the World Economic Forum (WEF), currently ongoing at Davos in Switzerland. Tamil Nadu used the highly influential Davos platform to debut its new global campaign #BullishOnTN, which has been very well received at the event. The campaign conveys the state’s powerful forward stride and invites global investors to share in its prosperity.‘Bullish on Tamil Nadu’ captures both the spirit and the substance of the state’s growth trajectory since in market parlance, being ‘bullish’ expresses optimism and confidence, signalling a strong upward momentum. Hence the campaign aptly mirrors Tamil Nadu’s standing as a rapidly advancing industrial powerhouse. Interestingly, the bull is a revered symbol in Tamil culture, representing strength, resilience and prosperity, and deeply rooted in traditions. Explained state minister of industries, Dr TRB Rajaa, “The #BullishOnTN campaign draws inspiration from the majestic bull, a symbol of strength, resilience, and momentum that embodies Tamil Nadu’s spirit. Our mascot, the raging bull, perfectly sends out the message to the world to join the bull run that is propelling the state, and thus the country, towards becoming a global economic powerhouse, far outpacing our peers in India and positioning us alongside global manufacturing destinations.” The delegation from Tamil Nadu is working extremely hard at Davos to ensure the state continues to lead as India’s top investment destination, with over 50 meetings being undertaken from as early as 7 AM to late in the night at 10 PM every day. This includes meetings with several governments from the Middle East and Europe who seek further collaborations in Tamil Nadu.The state is targeting building on auto and electric vehicle (EV) R&D, taking Tamil Nadu’s established manufacturing prowess to higher levels. Given the state’s position as the leader in electronics manufacturing in India, TN is also looking to scale advanced electronics. Tamil Nadu also plans to use the Davos WEF platform to grow Global Capability Centres, further strengthening the state’s IT and services portfolio and expand in renewables and bring in investment into new sectors such as med-tech & healthcare, food processing, and agro-forest processing.Arun Roy, secretary, Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu said: “Building on Tamil Nadu’s legacy of progressive governance, our robust industrial policy and various sector-specific policies are designed to give investors the confidence they need to go bullish on our state. Former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan was also in a panel along with the state Industries Minister, Dr TRB Rajaa and the Industries Secretary, Arun Roy.The state is also mobilising Tamil entrepreneurs from Europe as voluntary ambassadors of Tamil Nadu besides running multilingual digital campaigns to focus on various segments of international investors.Tamil Nadu was invited to WEF to help shape the global narrative on ‘Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,’ and as part of this the state’s key focus areas include:Women’s workforce participation for inclusive economic growth. Rapid industrial digitisation to drive global manufacturing competitiveness. ESG Integration as AI adoption surges—addressing digital divides and energy use. Building intelligent talent pools, aligning with R&D and upskilling partnerships for future industries. Knowledge economy through welfare, ensuring robust education, healthcare, and social safety nets.Leveraging global supply chain diversification strategies.
