A White House official has said the chances of a United States strike on Iran in the coming weeks are around 90%, and the "imminent" war will be a multi-week campaign, Axios News has reported. The reports suggest that the war will be a joint US-Israel operation and will be greater in magnitude than the 12-day Israeli bombing of Iran last June.

The news website has cited "a number of sources" saying that the war could come earlier than most people expect it to. And the war will be far larger than many people anticipate, the website reported. "President Trump is getting fed up. Some people around him warn against going to war with Iran," Axios quoted a Trump advisor as saying, "But I think there is a 90% chance that we see kinetic action in the next few weeks."

Further establishing that the war will be a joint operation led by the US and Israel, the website has talked to at least two Israeli officials, who have maintained that their country is also preparing for a war to break out "within weeks". The Israeli officials have added that Israel is advocating for an operation aimed at toppling the regime.

Meanwhile, former IDF Military Intelligence Chief Amos Yadlin has suggested that such a confrontation could be imminent. "Last week I allowed myself to fly to Munich Security Conference," he told Channel 12 News on Wednesday, "I would think twice before flying (abroad from Israel) this weekend."

He said that a war was much closer than before, but maintained that a superpower does not go to war in a matter of days. "There is a diplomatic path that must be exhausted," Yadlin said.
