Oil loading operations at the UAE's key energy hub of Port of Fujairah have resumed after being briefly suspended following a drone strike that triggered a fire in the emirate's petroleum industrial zone, two sources told Reuters on Monday.

The attack caused a blaze at the oil trading hub, prompting authorities to temporarily halt loading operations. Civil defence teams were deployed to contain the fire, the Fujairah government media office said in a statement.

“Civil defense teams were working to control the blaze,” the statement said, adding that no casualties had been reported.

Located on the Gulf of Oman, just outside the Strait of Hormuz, Fujairah is a critical export point for the UAE's Murban crude, typically handling about 1 million barrels per day, roughly 1% of global oil demand.

The disruption marks the second such incident at the vital bunkering hub in recent days. Operations at Fujairah had only resumed on Sunday after another drone strike over the weekend that also sparked a fire.

The latest attack comes amid heightened regional tensions as the U.S.–Israeli conflict with Iran threatens shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman that normally carries about a fifth of the world's oil supply.

The incidents have underscored the vulnerability of United Arab Emirates' only major export route that bypasses the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
