US President Donald Trump has claimed that 'everyone' has agreed to rename artificial intelligence as super intelligence following a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, suggesting that both leaders were in agreement.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "Very productive meeting with President Xi for both the U.S.A. and China. Tremendous things will be happening. Like almost everyone else, he seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE. That would be “SUPER!” Everyone last night agreed, also."
Trump's claim comes days after he said the term artificial intelligence will be replaced by super intelligence in US government documents, arguing that the word artificial makes the technology sound less capable than it is.
Speaking in New York, Trump said the US would reject efforts to create what he described as a “globalist scheme” to control AI, while promising to encourage the technology's development.
“From this point forward, all of United States documents and hopefully the world's will be changed to use the much more accurate term super as opposed to artificial,” he said.
