Wipro is in discussions with leading AI developer Anthropic as the Indian IT services major deepens its investments and partnerships across the artificial intelligence ecosystem, the company's Chief Technology Officer, Sandhya Arun, told NDTV Profit on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit.

Arun said Wipro has been a user of Anthropic's models 'for a long time' and is now exploring a formal partnership. "We are in talks with Anthropic as we speak," she said, adding that the relationship could evolve further as enterprise demand for trustworthy and controllable AI systems rises.

At the Summit, Wipro showcased Wipro Intelligence, its expanding portfolio of AI-powered solutions. "Whatever we do at Wipro today is AI-powered," Arun said. "We are helping clients transform into autonomous enterprises, where the majority of work can be executed by AI agents and supervised by humans."

According to her, AI is no longer treated as a separate service line inside the company. Instead, it has been embedded across every business unit — from technology services and ERP to digital, engineering and business process services. "In many cases, tasks that humans used to perform earlier are now handled autonomously by AI. Where humans need support, they get it from AI agents," she said.

Wipro is also intensifying work with AI startups, including through strategic investments. The company has backed Factory.AI, which focuses on accelerating software development lifecycles, and is collaborating with multiple Indian startups and universities to build domain-specific AI tools and research pipelines.

As the company lays out its next phase of AI strategy, Wipro is prioritising healthcare, BFSI, consumer and manufacturing sectors, along with a niche focus on telecom. Arun did not comment on the scale of investments being earmarked for AI but said there is “definitive focus and huge investments” both within Wipro and among its global clients.
