The Realme 16 5G is scheduled for launch in India today at noon, expanding the brand's current series to three models. It follows the earlier debut of the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+. Realme has teased several core features of the handset in the run-up to its release. While the company has yet to confirm the price, recent reports have offered an indication of what buyers might expect.

Realme has equipped the Realme 16 5G with a 7,000mAh battery paired with 60W wired fast charging support. Yet, the handset remains relatively compact at 8.1mm thick and 183g in weight. In a market where bigger batteries often result in heavier, bulkier devices, this balance is not widely seen in mid-tier smartphones.

Realme says the handset is capable of lasting 21.67 hours on WhatsApp, 22.86 hours while scrolling through Instagram Reels, and just over 22 hours of YouTube viewing. For audio, it is said to offer close to six days of continuous music playback per charge.

The handset will run on Realme UI 7.0, based on Android 16, with the company committing to three major OS upgrades and four years of security updates.

The design centres on what Realme calls a “Gleaming Wings” finish, offering a reflective effect that shifts with light. It will be available in two colour options, Air Black and Air White, and both options carry this styling. The rear panel has also been treated with an anti-fingerprint layer and given a softer texture to improve grip and reduce smudging.

The Realme 16 5G is set to arrive with a 6.57-inch screen, boasting a peak brightness of up to 4,200 nits. It is also tipped to include a 3,000Hz touch sampling rate and 2,160Hz PWM dimming for improved responsiveness and eye comfort. The handset will feature IP69 certification for durability, alongside an AirFlow vapour chamber cooling setup with a 6,050 sq mm heat spread area.

On the rear panel, the Realme 16 5G houses a 50MP primary Sony sensor with optical stabilisation, paired with a secondary lens that remains under wraps. The camera system is integrated into what Realme describes as an “industry's first camera bar with selfie mirror”. A 50MP front camera handles self-portraits and video calls.

For audio, the device features stereo speakers said to deliver up to 300% higher volume, targeting a better experience for videos and games. The company has further confirmed an IP69 rating, indicating strong protection against dust and water ingress.

Realme has not officially confirmed the processor details, but internationally, the Realme 16 5G ships with the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo SoC. The device is available with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

The company is yet to disclose official pricing for the device. In global markets, the Realme 16 5G was introduced earlier this year at VND 11,490,000 (roughly Rs 40,000) for the 8GB + 256GB configuration, while the 12GB + 256GB version carries a price tag of VND 12,490,000 (about Rs 44,000). For India, the handset is likely to be priced lower, especially as the range-topping Realme 16 Pro+ begins at Rs 39,999.
