Google has officially confirmed the Fitbit Edge, its upcoming fitness tracker. The company has started teasing the device on X and revealed that it will launch on October 12. Before Google's teaser, the tracker had already surfaced online this month. An initial leak showed what it looks like, and its specs and expected pricing appeared online a few days after that. Google's teaser confirms the name and launch date, but not the other details.
Display, Battery and Connectivity
According to the leaks, the Fitbit Edge features a 1.34-inch AMOLED display. Battery life is said to reach up to seven days on a single charge, although turning on the Always-on display, which keeps the screen lit at all times, is expected to cut that to two days.
The tracker is tipped to come with 40 built-in exercise modes, along with Bluetooth 5.4 and GPS for connectivity and location tracking. It is also expected to offer personalised coaching powered by Gemini, Google's AI assistant.

Health and Fitness Tracking
The Fitbit Edge is reported to be packed with sensors for a wide range of health and activity tracking. On the fitness side, it can reportedly log steps, distance travelled and calories burned. It is also said to keep track of heart rate, sleep, skin temperature and the menstrual cycle.
The leaks also point to more advanced heart health features. The tracker is expected to detect atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms, and to measure cardiac load. It will reportedly assess the user's overall fitness level and VO2 max as well.
Durability and Dimensions
For water resistance, the Fitbit Edge is said to carry both 5ATM and IP68 ratings. The device reportedly measures 39.22mm in height, 25.56mm in width and 11.58mm in thickness, and weighs 17.7g.

Expected Price and Colour Options
The Fitbit Edge is rumoured to be priced at €179 in the Eurozone and £159 in the UK. The leaks have only covered pricing for these two regions so far.
The tracker is tipped to arrive in four colour combinations: Obsidian & Matte Black, Olive & Satin Pyrite, Canyon & Champagne Gold, and Fog & Polished Silver.
Launch Details
Google is set to unveil the Fitbit Edge on October 12, which means the wait for official details is almost over. Since the specifications and pricing so far come from leaks, the final details may differ once the company makes the official announcement. Until then, the leaked specs, features and prices should be treated as unconfirmed.
