Mumbai Indians has endured a tough run in 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). The five-time champions are placed ninth in the IPL points table with two wins and seven losses in nine games. On Monday, they are squaring-off against another team who have a troubled time this year as they play Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
With their chances of qualifying for the playoffs negligible, the two teams are looking to salvage pride from their remainder of matches of this season.
As MI faithfuls flooded the Wankhede Stadium to their players in action, they received a bad news and a good news.
The disappointing news for the MI paltan was that Hardik Pandya did not walk out for the toss. Instead it was Suryakumar Yadav who was captaining the side. After Surya was the toss and opted to field first he was asked about Hardik's absence to which he responded saying: " Hardik's not well tonight, so going to his shoes"

On the brighter side, MI's stand-in skipper announced that Rohit Sharma is back in the team after missing the five previous games.

The news of Rohit's return was welcomed with a huge roar by the Mumbai fans. The former MI captain was confined to the sidelines following a hamstring injury that he sustained against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium on April 12.
