Egypt's national football team director Ibrahim Hassan has warned Mohamed Salah against joining Major League Soccer clubs after the latter finishes playing at Liverpool.

Last week, Salah announced that he would leave the Merseyside club at the end of the ongoing football season. There is little clarity though where the Egyptian star is heading next.

There are several possible destinations for Salah, including a move to Saudi Arabia. Once the news of Salah's imminent departure emerged, Don Garber, the commissioner of MLS, expressed his desire to see the player ply his trade in the US.

"I couldn't say that until he announced he was leaving Liverpool. But what a great player he would be in MLS. And I think we would provide him with a great platform," Garber told reporters at the SBJ Business of Soccer event in Atlanta.

But Salah has been asked to not make a move to the MLS. “Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe,” ‌Hassan told On Sports.

"I have heard about offers from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Bayern Munich and clubs in the Italian league. A move to the Major League? He would be far too out of the spotlight. You won't remember Salah any more than I remember [Lionel] Messi now, I don't even try to watch him," Hassan added.

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 from Italian side AS Roma and, over nine remarkable seasons, became the club's third-highest all-time scorer with 255 goals.

After Salah joined Liverpool, the club won two Premier League titles, one Champions League title, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups, as well as a Community Shield.
