CSK Vs RCB IPL 2025: Indian Railways Announces Special Train Services For Southern Derby On Mar. 28

Ahead of the much anticipated Chennai Super Kings versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL thriller in Chennai on Mar. 28, Indian Railways has announced special trains to manage the influx of spectators. The Southern Railways division plans to operate three special trains on Mar. 28 to facilitate transportation for the attendees.

According to an official notification from the Chennai Division of the Southern Railways, three special trains will be operational tomorrow. Special Train 1 will depart Chennai Beach at 10 pm, arriving at Velachery at 10:45 pm. Special Train 2 will leave Velachery at 10:55 pm, reaching Chennai Beach at 11:45 pm. Special Train 3 will depart from Chepauk at 11:30 pm and arrive at Velachery at 12:05 am. These special trains have been specifically organised for the IPL event, ensuring convenient transportation for fans to return after the match.

The match will start from 7:30 pm at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Two of the three special trains will make a stop at Chepauk station after originating from Chennai Beach and Velachery. Meanwhile, special train 3 will originate from Chepauk itself and journey till Velachery to accommodate the heavy demand. 

During the journey, these trains will cover critical stations such as Lighthouse, Mandaveli, Kotturpuram, Indiranagar, among others to ensure easy access for passengers traveling back from the event.

In view of the match, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced that passengers with valid event tickets will be allowed to take a free Metro ride on Mar. 28. 

“The ticket will enable a round-trip journey between any chosen Metro stations and Government Estate Metro station,” the agency said in a post on X. “Cricket goers can scan the match ticket (both digital & Physical) QR code at the Automatic Gates. These valid match tickets can be used for one round trip (2 Entry & 2 Exit) and can be scanned at the automatic gates at the metro stations for smooth entry and exit,” it explained.
