Change In IPL 2026 Schedule: BCCI Swaps CSK Vs GT Fixtures Due To Gujarat Municipal Elections

The BCCI has revised the IPL 2026 schedule, swapping the home and away matches between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.

Citing the April 26 municipal elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat, the BCCI has moved the afternoon clash originally set for Ahmedabad to Chennai. Consequently, the return leg on May 21 will now be played at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

The first match was to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Ahmedabad on April 26 itself. The second match was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Chennai on May 21. Now the match on April 26 will be held at Chepauk, starting at 3:30 p.m., and the second match on May 21 will commence at 7:30 p.m. in Ahmedabad.

A statement from the IPL read: "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces a revision in the schedule of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026."

"The afternoon fixture between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, originally scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on April 26, 2026, will now be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, with the match starting at 03:30 PM IST."

"Accordingly, the reverse fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, scheduled to be played on May 21, 2026 in the evening, will now be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, with the match set to begin at 07:30 PM IST."

"The change has been necessitated in view of the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat scheduled on April 26, 2026."

Gujarat are currently fifth on the points table with two wins and two losses after four games. Chennai, on the other hand, are ninth after just one win in four matches.

Both Chennai and Gujarat play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next fixture respectively. CSK and GT will host KKR - CSK on Tuesday, April 14 and GT on Friday, April 17.
