Foreign institutional investors have been on a selling spree in the Indian equity market, offloading stocks for the 22nd consecutive session on Saturday, and were also net buyers of index futures, index options and stock futures. They were net sellers of stock options.
FIIs In Cash Market
Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 22nd straight session on Saturday as they sold stocks worth approximately Rs 1,327.09 crore.
Domestic institutional investors were net buyers for the 33rd consecutive session as they mopped up equities worth Rs 824.38 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
The FPIs sold stake worth Rs 1,931 crore on Thursday. So far in January, the FPIs have sold equities worth Rs 78,027 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.'s data.
FIIs In Futures, Options
Ahead of the Feb. 27 expiry, the value of outstanding positions — also called open interest in the derivatives segment — has decreased for the FIIs in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 11%:89%.
The FIIs turned buyers of index futures at Rs 165.26 crore and options at Rs 3,312.5 crore. They also bought stock futures worth Rs 928 crore and sold options worth Rs 1,755 crore.
FII Contract Value
The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market remained at Rs 41,984.4 crore at the end of February expiry.
F&O Cues
The Nifty February futures were down 0.25% to 23,560.40 at a premium of 78.25 points, with the open interest down by 2.15%.
The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Feb. 6 expiry series indicated most activity at 21,200 call strikes, with the 21,200 put strikes having maximum open interest.
Long-Short Ratio
The total long-short ratio for foreign investors remained flat at 1.22.
