Ultravolt has entered India’s wires and cables market with Phase-I capacity of ~1.1mn kilometre, supported by UltraTech’s parentage. Its immediate access to over 5,000 UltraTech outlets gives it a strong national distribution platform from launch.

According to Nirmal Bang Institutional Equities, Ultravolt’s scale and distribution could intensify competition in household wires, though broader cables demand remains structurally resilient. After the recent correction, the brokerage firm feels valuations may still discount competitive risk early, even before earnings impact becomes visible.

“We are moderating valuation multiples for companies most exposed to household-wire competition, without changing earnings estimates yet. Havells moves to ‘Hold’, while V-Guard remains a ‘Buy’, Polycab a ‘Hold’, and Crompton / Orient Electric remain largely unchanged,” Nirmal Bang said.
 

RBL Bank said its Board of Directors considered and approved to enable issuance of foreign currency bonds / notes / any other debt securities up to $1 billion in the future, from time to time, through one or more transactions, subject to the market conditions and regulatory compliances, for raising of funds through permissible modes under the Euro Medium Term Note Programme.

Shyam Metalics and Energy said its stainless steel sales volumes in August increased 16.44% YoY to 10,920 MT and realizations jumped by 45.51% YoY to Rs 1,83,032 per MT.

Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest passenger carmaker, will increase prices of select models by up to Rs 20,000 from September 2026, citing sustained increases in input costs.

In a communication to dealers, Maruti Suzuki said the price increase would come into effect in September 2026. The company said it has been making continuous efforts over the past few months to mitigate the impact of higher costs through cost-reduction measures.

“However, with inflationary burdens at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment enduring, the Company is constrained to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market, while continuing to ensure that the impact on customers is kept to the minimum extent possible,” Maruti Suzuki said.

MCX gold price fell 0.3% to trade around Rs 1,52,200 per 10 grams level and is holding above its 50-EMA. 

Immediate resistance for MCX gold price is at Rs 1,53,700 - Rs 1,54,000, and a break above targets next resistance at Rs 1,55,300 - Rs 1,56,000. Immediate support is at Rs 1,50,700 - Rs 150,000 (100-day EMA), with next support at Rs 1,48,000 - Rs 1,47,300, said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.

RSI at 47.02, lower, shows momentum has clearly turned softer. Bias stays cautious while a sustained move above Rs 1,53,000 is required to confirm momentum, with a slip below risking a pullback toward Rs 1,50,000, he added.
 

Nifty 50 index has declined 100 points from day’s high and slipped below 23,800 level. The index has declined in seven out of the previous nine trading sessions.

Additionally, the benchmark Nifty 50 has tanked around 1,000 points in the last 25 trading sessions, wherein the index has ended lower in 17 sessions.

The zone of 23,670 – 23,650 will act as a crucial support for the Nifty 50 index while the resistance lies in the zone of 23,870 – 23,900. On the downside, if the index slips below the level of 23,650, then the next support is placed in the zone of 23,520 – 23,500, said Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities.

In an event of a surge above 23,900, he believes the index can experience an extension of the rally towards 24,050.

On the options front, meaningful call writing witnessed across 23,800 & 23,900 strikes. On the put side, 23,700 has a substantial open interest, followed by 23,600 strike.

For Sensex, support is seen at 75,700 level while resistance is at 76,500.

Purple Style Labs share price slipped over 4% from its listing price and declined more than 10% from its issue price after making a weak debut on Dalal Street today. The stock was listed with 7% discount to its issue price.

Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart said the view on Purple Style Labs shares remains to ‘Avoid’, as the company’s loss has widened sharply from Rs 47.7 crore in FY24 to Rs 188.4 crore in FY25 and Rs 285.4 crore in FY26, with no clear path to breakeven. 

“Valuation also looks expensive at around 9.3–9.6x FY26 revenue, while P/E and P/B are not meaningful due to losses and negative net worth. Moreover, around 55% of IPO proceeds will be used for lease liabilities and Rs 138.9 crore for marketing, leaving limited funds for growth,” said Nyati.

For existing investors, she suggests keeping a stop loss at Rs 500. Overall, widening losses, negative net worth and high valuation make the risk-reward unattractive at current levels.

Apollo Micro Systems share price jumped over 4% after brokerage firm Systematix initiated coverage on the defence stock with a ‘Buy’ rating and a target price of Rs 570, based on 55x average FY28E and FY29E EPS. Apollo Micro Systems share price target implies an upside potential of more than 46% from its previous closing price.

The brokerage firm sees a potential structural opportunity for Apollo Micro Systems to evolve from a subsystem and electronics supplier into an integrated weapon systems manufacturer. GoI’s keenness to provide complete transfer of technology (ToTs) from DRDO to private players could enable Apollo Micro Systems to secure large, platform-level opportunities, similar to Solar Industries’ evolution into manufacturing complete Pinaka systems.

Broader markets traded mixed, as the Nifty Smallcap 100 index gained 0.2%, while the Nifty Midcap 100 index dropped over 0.4%.

Among sectors, Nifty IT, Nifty Metals, Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Banks, Nifty Realty, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Oil & Gas led the losses, while Nifty Pharma was the only index in the green.

Pranav Constructions IPO has been fully subscribed within hours of opening. The public issue was booked 1.6 times so far till 11:30 am, NSE data showed. 

The IPO received 1.84 times subscription in the Retail Individual Investors category, and 2.55 times in the Non-Institutional Investors (NII) segment. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) are yet to bid for the issue.
 

VA Tech Wabag share price gained nearly 3% after the company announced that its secured a ‘Medium’ order from the Reliance Industries Limited, towards Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply, Erection & Commissioning of an Effluent Treatment Plant (‘ETP’), at Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex (DAGEGC), Jamnagar.

The company categorises ‘medium’ orders in the range of Rs 100 crore to Rs 250 crore, or $10 million to $30 million.

The proposed ETP scheduled to be completed in 13 months will be designed comprising chemical and biological treatment using the state-of the art technologies, along with a sludge treatment incorporating low-temperature drying for efficient sludge management, VA Tech Wabag said.

PC Jeweller rose as much as 14.7% to Rs 13.65, while Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri hit its 10% upper circuit at Rs 519.75. Shankesh Jewellers gained 7.91% to Rs 106.84, and Thangamayil Jewellery advanced 3.16% to Rs 5,500.

The gains came amid higher trading volumes across the jewellery counters.

Julius Baer’s Mark Matthews told NDTV Profit that crude oil prices could take up to 12 months to normalise and may fall towards $60 a barrel over the long term.

Matthews expects the UAE to raise oil production by a few million barrels. He said investors continue to allocate funds to artificial intelligence and are selectively evaluating Indian AI companies.

The Nifty 50 fell as much as 108.25 points, or 0.45%, to an intraday low of 23,789.45. The index later traded 93.20 points, or 0.39%, lower at 23,804.50.

The Sensex declined 300.39 points, or 0.39%, to 76,215.04.

Six empty LNG carriers linked to Qatar are in the Gulf of Oman or heading there, while another has crossed the Strait of Hormuz towards Qatar, Bloomberg reported.

The vessel movements could allow Qatar to resume LNG exports through the strait.

BEML aims to grow revenue by 25-30% in FY27 and expects order inflows of Rs 20,000 crore from the second quarter onwards, Shantanu Roy said. The company’s current order book stands at Rs 16,300 crore.

Metro and rail projects account for 70% of the order pipeline, followed by defence at 20% and mining at 10%. BEML also targets export orders worth $200 million in FY27.

Finolex Cables CEO Mahesh Viswanathan said the company expects to sustain its first-quarter growth rate and has taken price increases following higher input costs.

Viswanathan said margins could face some pressure and competition may rise after UltraTech’s entry. He expects the cable sector to grow over the next three to five years, alongside consolidation among smaller companies.

KEI Industries CMD Anil Gupta said competition could put pressure on wire margins and prices. The company will consider reducing prices if competitors do so.

Gupta said cable demand remains strong and expects no impact on growth from UltraTech’s entry into the market.

India’s retail automobile sales rose 17.5% from a year earlier to 24.2 lakh units in August, according to FADA. Two-wheeler sales increased 19.7% to 17 lakh units, while passenger vehicle sales grew 16.1% to 4.02 lakh units.

Commercial vehicle sales rose 14.5% to 90,769 units, three-wheeler sales gained 8.6% to 1.22 lakh units and tractor sales increased 0.8% to 87,977 units. FADA expects the festive season to support two-wheeler demand.

Purple Style Labs discovered its listing price at Rs 535 on the NSE, a 7% discount to its issue price of Rs 575.

The listing price was set at Rs 539 on the BSE, a 6.3% discount to the issue price.

Morgan Stanley maintained an ‘equal-weight’ rating with a target price of Rs 2,480, while HSBC retained ‘buy’ and cut its target to Rs 2,440. Macquarie maintained ‘outperform’ with a target of Rs 2,860, and Jefferies retained ‘buy’ while reducing its target to Rs 2,450.

The brokerages cited Hindustan Unilever’s volume-led growth strategy, 22–24% EBITDA margin guidance and planned capital expenditure of 3% of revenue.

AXISCADES Technologies rose 1.86%, while Paisalo Digital and Ola Electric gained 0.66% and 0.42%, respectively, after announcing fundraising plans.

Sammaan Capital fell 1.56%, Precision Wires declined 1.11%, RBL Bank lost 0.75% and PNB Housing Finance slipped 0.14%.

PVR Inox shares fell 7.27% to Rs 1,138 after touching an intraday low of Rs 1,126.60. The Economic Times reported that the company asked a senior executive to leave following an internal investigation into alleged kickbacks.

PVR Inox said it has governance mechanisms to review internal matters and called insinuations against its current stakeholders baseless.
