Q1 Results Live: Niva Bupa Expects Growth To Outpace Industry After Strong Q1
Niva Bupa CEO Vishwanath Mahendra told NDTV Profit that the company delivered strong growth in both its topline and retail health insurance business during the June quarter, aided by the GST exemption, which acted as a key tailwind.
He said the insurer is expanding its distribution network by adding 1,000 fresh distribution partners, while its combined insurance service ratio improved during the quarter and loss ratios are expected to improve further.
Mahendra said renewal rates have increased following the GST exemption, though the lower GST base will begin to reflect in the third quarter.
He added that the GST changes have brought structural shifts to the business, while loss ratios in the retail health insurance segment remain benign. Niva Bupa expects to grow 8–10 percentage points faster than the industry, he said.
Q1 Results Live: M&M Sees Strong Q2 Ahead As Rural Demand, EV Ramp-Up Gather Pace
Mahindra & Mahindra Group CEO and MD Anish Shah told NDTV Profit that the company delivered a profitable first quarter despite a challenging operating environment, reflecting the resilience of its business.
Shah said labour shortages affected SUV production during the June quarter but expressed confidence that production of both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs) will ramp up going forward.
He added that government support has helped the transition from ICE to EVs, while incentives for EVs are expected to decline as scale improves. Shah expects EV adoption to accelerate further with the expansion of charging infrastructure.
Q1 Results Live: Thermax Expects Strong Recovery From Q2 After Weak Q1
Thermax MD and CEO Ashish Bhandari told NDTV Profit that the June quarter was a challenging one, with the company taking a hit from higher project completion costs driven by engineering design changes and an inability to ship equipment worth Rs 300 crore to the Middle East.
Bhandari said projects with lower profitability should largely be behind the company and that it has taken sufficient contingencies for select orders, adding that no further project cost overruns are expected.
He expects issues in the Bio-CNG business to be resolved this year, while order approvals delayed in Tamil Nadu due to a change in government are likely within a week.
Looking ahead, Bhandari said the company expects a significant improvement from the second quarter, with both profitability and revenue set to improve. He added that the order pipeline remains healthy, the order backlog has a strong international mix, and Thermax expects FY27 order inflows to exceed the previous year.
