BSE Ltd. will replace Wipro Ltd. in the benchmark Nifty 50 index from September 30, according to a confirmation by NSE Indices as part of its semi-annual review of broad market indices.
The changes will take effect from September 30, 2026, after the close of trading on September 29, NSE Indices said.
BSE's six-month average free-float market capitalisation stood at Rs 1,40,879 crore, compared with Rs 55,930 crore for Wipro, the smallest Nifty 50 constituent being replaced. BSE qualified for inclusion as its average free-float market capitalisation was at least 1.5 times that of Wipro.

TVS Motor Company and Divi's Laboratories, the next two eligible candidates, were not selected for the Nifty 50. Their six-month average free-float market capitalisations of Rs 84,566 crore and Rs 82,930 crore, respectively, did not meet the required threshold against the lowest-ranked eligible Nifty 50 constituents.
The BSE-Wipro replacement will also apply to the Nifty50 Equal Weight index.
With its exclusion from the Nifty 50, Wipro will enter the Nifty Next 50 alongside Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vodafone Idea.
The Nifty 100 will also see changes, with BSE, Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vodafone Idea entering the index, while Indian Hotels, Lodha Developers, REC, Shree Cement and United Spirits will be excluded.

BSE will simultaneously exit the Nifty Midcap 150, Nifty Midcap Select, Nifty Midcap 50, Nifty Midcap 100 and several other indices as a result of its elevation into the large-cap Nifty 50 universe.
NSE Indices has also announced changes across sectoral, thematic and strategy indices as part of its periodic reviews. Among them, Hyundai Motor India will replace Exide Industries in Nifty Auto, while HCL Technologies will replace Persistent Systems in Nifty Growth Sectors 15.
