Salman Khan has once again spoken candidly about an aspect of celebrity culture that has often been a subject of discussion. The actor shared his perspective on the changing relationship between public figures, the media and social media.
Salman Khan Talks About Paparazzi Culture
During the opening episode of Koffee with Karan Season 9, Salman Khan addressed his concerns about paparazzi culture and the way certain celebrities are photographed. Speaking to host Karan Johar, the actor particularly pointed out how some female actors can feel uncomfortable with photographs taken from certain angles.
Salman explained that the rise of PR-driven celebrity culture has contributed to the growing focus on public sightings. He said some people pay photographers for planned sightings and also participate in trends such as airport looks. However, he clarified that his comments were directed towards celebrities who do not want to be part of such practices.
“There are really bad angles, girls are uncomfortable,” Salman said while discussing the issue.
The actor also expressed his frustration with social media pages that post photographs under the “Guess Who” format. He questioned how audiences are expected to identify celebrities from such images.
Salman Khan On His Generation Of Actors
During the conversation, Karan Johar also highlighted the continued popularity of established Bollywood stars, pointing out that 2026 will see films featuring major names such as Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. He noted that their ability to attract audiences shows that their generation continues to remain relevant.
Responding to Karan, Salman said, “We (our generation) are interested in our work. We want to get out of our houses, do good work. Sometimes, it turns out right, sometimes it does not.”
The actor also spoke about the importance of having a clear creative vision while making a film. He said, “The films that we make are films that every Hindustani would be comfortable to see with the whole family.”
Salman added that he generally has a clear idea of how he wants his projects to look. “With most of my films, I see a vision, how they are going to turn out. If the director doesn't see that, that's where the gadbad happens,” he said.
