After the delayed release of Project Hail Mary on March 26, 2026, the movie has now entered its 9th day at the Indian box office. Despite having its theatrical run alongside Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary has captured its sci-fi audience.
The initial release date for Project Hail Mary was scheduled for March 20, 2026. However, due to the massive hype and success of Dhurandhar 2, the release date was postponed.
As per Sacnilk reports, Ryan Gosling-starrer sci-fi opened with Rs 2.25 crore across 1,324 shows on Thursday at the Indian box office. The second day, being a Friday, saw a slight jump as it locked in Rs 2.90 crore across 1,598 shows.
The numbers rose during the opening weekend, as the first Saturday collections were almost doubled, with the movie collecting Rs 4.60 crore net. Moreover, the average occupancy also significantly improved to 70.1%.
On the fourth day, the movie collected a total net of Rs 4.75 crore across 1,634 shows. However, despite being a Sunday, the average occupancy fell sharply to 48.0%.
After collecting more than Rs 9 crore over the weekend, Project Hail Mary slowed down over the weekdays.
On Monday (day 5), the movie collected Rs 2.25 crore across 1,628 shows. Additionally, the average occupancy saw a further dip to 23.5%.
The 6th day of the movie saw a slight increase in its weekday numbers as it locked in Rs 2.95 crore across 1,712 shows. The 7th day collections, as reported by Sacnilk, were Rs 2.45 crore across 1,707 shows.
On the 8th day at the box office, Project Hail Mary garnered Rs 2.55 crore, officially closing the week 1 collections. With the ongoing dominance of Dhurandhar 2, the sci-fi thriller impressively collected a total net of Rs 24.70 during its first week.
With day 9 numbers coming in, the movie has collected Rs 0.91 crore as of now. In terms of the total number of shows, the National Capital Region (NCR) stands out with 116 shows, significantly ahead of other major regions. It is followed by Mumbai with 112 shows and Bengaluru with 81 shows running.
After 9 days at the box office, Project Hail Mary currently took in Rs 30.67 crore in terms of gross collections. Meanwhile, the total net collections in India stand at Rs 25.61 crore.
With the second weekend approaching, it is expected to see higher numbers, as the previous collections have already proved that this sci-fi movie has a dedicated audience in the country.
