The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge with an ‘A' (Adults Only) rating, ahead of its theatrical release on March 19, as per reports. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the much-anticipated sequel has undergone several edits, mainly targeting intense violence and explicit content.

According to certification details, the India-approved version has a runtime of 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 36 seconds (229.6 minutes). The original version submitted to the CBFC was approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes, while the overseas cut reportedly runs close to 3 hours and 55 minutes. This means the Indian theatrical version is over 6 minutes shorter after the board's recommended edits.

The CBFC recommended a total of 21 modifications, with at least four major changes focusing on graphic visuals. Scenes involving extreme violence—such as beheading, eye-smashing, hitting with a hammer, and attacks using cement blocks—have been reduced in intensity. Several abusive words have also been muted or replaced to meet certification standards, according to a report by NDTV.

Apart from violence, a few technical and contextual corrections were made. The dates related to demonetisation in subtitles have been fixed, and certain English subtitles have been revised for accuracy. In one instance, “Lahore” was reportedly replaced with “Delhi” in the information text. The filmmakers also submitted official permission to use references to the Prime Minister and real news footage.

Additional disclaimers have been added, including warnings about disturbing content and drug use. The end credits have also been shortened slightly.

Despite the cuts, the film is already witnessing massive buzz. Paid previews, which open on March 18 from 5.30 PM onwards, have seen strong advance bookings, with over 4 lakh tickets sold. Trade experts are predicting a huge opening, with estimates suggesting Rs 45–50 crore from previews alone.

The film features a powerful cast including Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. It will be released in five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
