Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Nabin has been confirmed as the party's new National President, taking over from Jagat Prakash Nadda.

The elevation of the 45-year-old leader is being viewed as a sign of the BJP's renewed focus on organisational consolidation and generational change ahead of a packed electoral calendar. Key state elections are due this year and next in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Uttar Pradesh, followed by the 2029 Lok Sabha election.

According to the BJP website, Nabin has served as a five-time member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also held ministerial positions in the Bihar government, earning a reputation for organisational efficiency and administrative experience.

Political Career And Organisational Roles

Nitin Nabin entered electoral politics at a young age and was first elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Patna West Assembly constituency in 2006. Since 2010, he has represented the Bankipur Assembly constituency, securing consecutive victories in 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025.

According to a report in NDTV, BJP leaders who have worked closely with Nabin describe him as hardworking, with a strong party-first approach.

Chhattisgarh Campaign And Rise Within BJP

In 2023, Nabin was tasked with leading the BJP's campaign in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. At the time, the Congress government was widely seen as entrenched, with most exit polls predicting a Congress victory. But under Nabin's leadership, the BJP secured a clear majority in the state.

According to the NDTV report, it was this Chhattisgarh campaign, more than his own electoral successes in Bihar, that set Nitin Nabin on the path to becoming the BJP's National President. The campaign highlighted his ability to deliver results in politically challenging situations.

The report added that Nabin further showed this capability by playing a key role in helping the BJP return to power in Delhi, reclaiming political control of the capital for the first time in nearly three decades.
