Days after a 17-year-old boy, allegedly driving an SUV, struck and killed a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Sahil Dhaneshra, in Dwarka, a video recorded from inside the Mahindra Scorpio SUV in the fatal collision has revealed the sequence of the events.

The video, reportedly recorded by his sister, showed the teenager speeding on a two-lane road without a divider.

In the video, the SUV is seen narrowly missing a bus before crashing into Sahil's bike.

The footage also shows Sahil attempting to overtake the bus just seconds before the SUV, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into him.

Sahil's mother, who shared the video, alleged that the clip had been trimmed at the end and did not include the exact moment of impact.

The accident reportedly occurred at 11:57 a.m. near Lal Bahadur Shastri College under the jurisdiction of Dwarka South police station.

What did the police preliminary probe find?

When police reached the spot, they reportedly found a series of vehicles involving the Scorpio SUV, a Swift Dzire taxi, and Sahil's severely damaged motorcycle, with the victim lying on the road.

Initial probe indicated that the Scorpio first hit Sahil's motorcycle from the opposite direction and then crashed into a parked taxi.

The taxi driver, Ajit Singh, sustained injuries and was treated at Indira Gandhi Hospital. His statement has been recorded, and police are awaiting final medical opinion on his injuries.

The autopsy report concluded that Sahil died due to haemorrhagic shock resulting from severe cranio-cerebral injury.

Medical findings revealed a skull fracture on the left side of the head, lung damage, and brain swelling, indicating extensive internal trauma consistent with a high-impact collision. The post-mortem examination documented multiple fatal injuries to the head and chest, fractures in the left fourth, fifth and sixth ribs, and around 100 ml of blood in both pleural cavities, pointing to significant internal chest trauma.

Doctors also observed a subscalp hematoma in the left parietal region, a fracture of the left temporo-parietal skull bone, a massive subdural hematoma in the left parieto-temporal region of the brain, haemorrhagic contusions, generalised brain edema, and clotted blood in the oral cavity.

Teen granted bail

Police identified the Scorpio driver as a juvenile who did not possess a valid driving licence.

He was taken into custody during the investigation and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which initially sent him to an observation home. On February 10, the Board granted the teenager interim bail, citing his ongoing Class 10 board examinations as the reason for temporary release.
